Parental Involvement (Management)
In addition to your involvement
with your own child's education, as members of Northside Montessori Society,
every parent has a role in the general management of this School. Research
shows conclusively that parent presence and involvement at school
is a predictor of educational achievement and
success for children across a wide range of socio-economic and cultural
settings.
There are many opportunities for parents to become involved in the running of
the school. Your interest and help make the school remain vibrant and will help you feel part of the school community. Every
family is also required to contribute to the fundraising and maintenance
programmes at the school.
All parents are welcome to attend Board meetings in accordance with the
Constitution.
Fundraising
Every family in the school at the time of enrolment undertakes to contribute
to fundraising. Participation in fundraising is compulsory. These
contributions are essential to the operation of the school and assist in keeping
fee increases to a minimum.
Maintenance
Northside prides itself on the beauty of both of its sites and is careful to
keep them this way through regular maintenance and an ongoing program of
improvement. To keep these enjoyable and safe for children and staff, each
family in the school undertakes at the time of enrolment of their child to
participate in the maintenance of the school buildings and grounds.
Participation by parents in these types of activities is part of the basic
ethos of the school, and also keeps fees to a minimum.
Each family will be rostered to attend two working bees during the year for jobs like gardening, simple handyman work, special projects and general clean-up.
Every family is required to participate or pay a $300 levy to enable us to engage a contractor to complete the work.
Single parent families attend one working bee per year.
