Northside Montessori Society
The Northside Montessori Society was established in 1978 by a small group of
parents who wanted a high quality of education for their children. Since
then the Society has developed to become one of the largest schools of its type
in Australia, offering the enrichment of Montessori education to children aged
3-12 years.
The objective of the Society is to provide an educational environment that
develops in each child the self- confidence and inner security to learn
independently, to build a habit of concentration, initiative and persistence,
and to foster the child's curiosity and sense of order.
Northside Montessori Society is a 'company not for gain, limited by
guarantee' which is managed by a Board voted from its members in accordance with its
Constitution.
Upon enrolment of a child, a family is required to become a member
of the Society. Family membership enables either one or both parents to attend any meeting of
the Society, and either can vote on behalf of the 'family member' at general
meetings. A 'family member' is considered to be one member and is entitled
to one vote.
Membership is renewed annually and is invoiced near the end of Term 4 with
the Term 1 fees for the next school year.
Northside commemorates its thirtieth
anniversary in 2008.
