Sports Program

The school is guided by the Board of Studies time allocation for sports activities.  The sporting program of the school is tailored to meet the Montessori principles embodied in the curriculum.  These include:

    non-competitiveness

emphasis on working in groups and teamwork

development and refinement of gross motor skills

development of game skills and understanding of rules

In pre-primary the emphasis is on development of gross motor skills.  In lower primary, the emphasis is on refining gross motor skills and in upper primary, understanding conventional rules.

Some of the excursions undertaken each year involve sporting activity or attendance at sporting events.  (In 2000 the primary classes attended sessions of the Paralympic Games held in Sydney.)

Each year a non-competitive tabloid sports carnival is held at Bannockburn Oval.

Parents with special interest in sports are encouraged to come and involve themselves in the school sporting program and introduce their sports to the children.

The school employs a sports specialist who coordinates and supervises the sports program of the school.

Together providing each child with Montessori education in harmony with life.
