Faculty
The teaching staff employed by the Society are carefully selected and highly
trained. They are qualified in both teaching generally and in the
application of Montessori principles. Many have done extensive Montessori
training in addition to the necessary qualifications required by the relevant
Government bodies.
Northside Montessori is proud of the excellence demonstrated by its teachers
and classroom assistants and the stability and deep experience of its faculty
helps in the establishment of the calm and stable environment envisaged by
Montessori principles. Their rich educational backgrounds developed as
Montessori educators, in many cases overseas, adds to the educational experience
they offer.
Staff Professional Development
The specially qualified Montessori teachers at Northside regularly observe in
other Montessori, alternative and mainstream schools and are encouraged to engage in study and attend
professional seminars and workshops. Classroom assistants attend
Montessori workshops and observe regularly in other Montessori
environments.
Teachers also attend and often contribute to the program at the Montessori
Association of Australia's National Conference and NSWMA Teachers'
Workshops.
Each teacher also offers several parent education/information
evenings each year, where aspects of Montessori philosophy and practice are
discussed and explored.
