in and the time noted when they are brought to school in the morning, and
that they be signed out and the time noted when they are picked up.
Your child’s teacher will show you the sign-in and -out procedure. Your
care with this documentation is appreciated; its intention is to safeguard
the children.

both Northside and Stepping Stones campuses and offers after school activities for the younger

Illness |
If your child is ill, he/she should not attend school. Illnesses of
young children are often contagious and your child’s recovery time will
be quicker with rest at home. Please phone the school and let your
child’s teacher know if your child is ill. Teachers are required
to notify the other parents if there is a contagious illness in a child in
the class. Names of children are not used in this instance. If
you are unsure about how long to keep a child with a contagious illness at
home, check with your doctor.
|
Absence |
It is a requirement that upon return, a written letter explaining the
reason for the child's absence be submitted to the child's Directress.
|
|
Food |
Please send a piece of fresh or dried fruit or vegetable with your
child for snack. There will be water available for your child to
pour him/herself at snack time. Lunches for the extended day
children should be fresh and nourishing food. Cakes, chocolates, chips
etc. are not appropriate.
Northside Montessori School is a peanut and nut free environment.

Clothing |
All of your child’s clothing should be name-labelled and easy to hang
on the hooks in the cloakroom. When we take the time to label and
provide loops we model the care for clothing, which we want the children
to develop.
Your child should always have at school a set of spare clothes
appropriate for the season and which fit comfortably. Your child’s
teacher will show you where these are stored.
The school’s Sunsmart policy requires that all children playing
outdoors must wear a protective sunhat – ‘no hat, no play’ is
enforced.
Unlabelled clothing left in the cloakroom or at school will be placed
in the Lost Property box on each site. Unclaimed items are donated
regularly to charity.

|
Library |
Your child may make use of the extensive children’s libraries at each
site. Please send a name-labelled cloth library bag with your child to
protect the book (these may be purchased for a nominal fee at the Office)
and help your child to return books when he or she is ready to, so that
another book may be borrowed.

|
Birthdays |
A birthday is a significant milestone in a child’s life. Birthdays
are celebrated in a special way at school; please check with your child’s
teacher a few days before the day, how it is celebrated and what should be
brought.

Enrolment for Siblings in Pre Primary |
Applications to enrol a sibling require completion of an application
form, doing an observation and undergoing an interview with the Principal. The
application forms are obtainable from the office and should be lodged at
the earliest opportunity. Once the enrolment procedures have been
completed, your child will be on the wait list. Offers are made in accordance with school enrolment policy and Department of
Community Services licensing requirements, which can in some instances,
result in a guaranteed place not being available until the start of the
following school year. Queries should be directed to the
Enrolments Administration Officer. |
